Berwick Area students Maryanna Betterly, Samara Murray, Lillian-Robinson Gilden (Middle School), and Regan Welch were recognized for their science fair projects through the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science's (PJAS) regional competition. Lillian and Regan recieved Second Awards in Botany and Mathematics respectively with their projects 'Hydroponic Light' and 'Complex Numbers and the Polar Coordinate System'. Seniors Maryanna and Samara received First Awards for their Behavioral Science projects 'Myers-Briggs Personality Types and High School Burnout' and 'The Effectiveness of Bystander Intervention Training'. Maryanna also received a First Award for her Mathematics project 'Kepler-Poinsot Polyhedra'. The competition was conducted virtually this year, with students recording a narration of a slideshow documenting their method and results. Maryanna and Samara's projects will be judged in the State PJAS competition in May.
Ms. Scholla's 9th Grade Health Classes researched different organizations that help people who may be in abusive relationships. Students were to provide the organization name and location, resources the organization provides to their patients, and the mission statement of the organization.
