WILKES BARRE – Five Berwick Area High School football standouts have been named to the Wyoming Valley Conference (WVC) All-Star 1st team for their efforts during the 2018 season.
All-State sophomore defensive lineman Mason Laubach and defensive back Teagan Wilk headline the group, and are joined by standout running back Owen Shoemaker, and linemen Eric Montes and Noah Craig.
Shoemaker paced the Berwick offense by running for 1,546 yards this season and approximately 2,500 during his career. He averaged 7.3 yards per carry in 2018 and ran for nearly 1,000 yards as a junior.
Montes, a 6-1, 230 lb. junior defensive lineman had 62 tackles, while lining up primarily as a defensive end. He had 43 solo tackles and 15 tackles for loss. Montes also recorded 7 sacks.
Laubach, 6-2, 235 lb. also lined up primarily as a defensive end and teamed with Montes to disrupt opponent’s offenses throughout the season. Laubach recorded 59 tackles, with 39 being solo and 17 for losses. He led the Dawgs with 10 sacks.
Craig, a 6-0, 255 lb. junior paced a Berwick offensive line, which paved the way for the Bulldog offense to rush for 270.5 yards a game and better than 7.1 yards per carry.
