The Berwick Area School District, in conjunction with school districts throughout Eastern Pennsylvania will participate in the “Be the Light” campaign beginning April 17th and continuing on Friday nights until the Class of 2020 graduates.
At 8:20 p.m., which is 20:20 military time, the lights at Crispin Field will be on and the score 20-20 will be on the scoreboard. The down and distance will read 4th and 19 signifying the imminent demise of Covid-19. Districts nationwide are conducted similar events, with the Pennsylvania version originating in PIAA District 11.
The Berwick Area School District is participating as a show of support for our graduating seniors, and as recognition for the efforts of our nurses, doctors and other workers who are on the “front lines” in fighting the Covid virus. The district will post pictures of the event on our Facebook Page and website, but is stressing the importance of the compliance with federal and state restrictions on travel and public gatherings.
Please do not visit Crispin to view the event. Should stay at home restrictions be lifted in the future and gathering restrictions be relaxed, the district will coordinate safe and appropriate attendance at Crispin.
The Berwick Area School District will not discriminate in its educational programs, activities, or employment practices, based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, handicap, or any other legally protected classification. Announcement of this policy is in accordance with the state and federal laws, including Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
