PIAA AAA Shot Put State Champion

SHIPPENSBURG, PA. – Berwick Area High School Track and Field standout Payden Montana added to her list of accomplishments by breaking a 38-year old record in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet. Montana easily outdistanced the field to win her second consecutive state title in the shot. She also won the discus on Saturday to become a three-time state champion.

The Penn State University signee adds three-time PIAA champion and record breaker to a long list of local, state, national and international accomplishments.  Montana became the first Bulldog in the history of the school to win an individual state title last year. She came into the state event this year as the top seed in the shot and discus and was never seriously threatened in the two-day event.

Montana was regarded as one of the top throwing prospects in the nation during the recruiting period, and has now become one of the best throwers in Pennsylvania history with her record breaking effort.
