West Berwick Elementary nearing full completion
An Open House date for tours of the building will be released soon. The building encompasses 88,000 square feet and is designed to hold 600-750 students, dependent on class sizes. It replaces 14th Street Elementary and Orange Street Elementary, each of which were pre-Great Depression era buildings.
Students from grades K-4 will attend West Berwick and 2010 Pennsylvania Principal of the Year Randy Peters will lead the new building.
Demolition of the former Berwick Weaving Factory began in 2014-2015 and construction began in August of 2015. Costs of the demolition and construction will be approximately $23 million dollars. The building will be completed without a tax increase.
