West Berwick Elementary nearing full completion

BERWICK – West Berwick Elementary is nearing 100% completion as contractors put the final touches on the building’s library. Classrooms, the gymnasium, landscaping and the cafeteria are finished and all technological components, including the security system are complete. 

An Open House date for tours of the building will be released soon. The building encompasses 88,000 square feet and is designed to hold 600-750 students, dependent on class sizes. It replaces 14th Street Elementary and Orange Street Elementary, each of which were pre-Great Depression era buildings. 

Mr. Randy Peters Students from grades K-4 will attend West Berwick and 2010 Pennsylvania Principal of the Year Randy Peters will lead the new building.

Demolition of the former Berwick Weaving Factory began in 2014-2015 and construction began in August of 2015. Costs of the demolition and construction will be approximately $23 million dollars.  The building will be completed without a tax increase.
