Patrick Sharkey

Principal-Salem Elementary

Mr. Sharkey began his career in the juvenile justice system while working as a juvenile probation officer before transitioning to a career in education.  In 2012, he was hired as the Berwick Area School District Attendance Officer.  In 2016, Mr. Sharkey was named the Dean of Students at Berwick High School, as well as continuing his duties as the district attendance officer.  Mr. Sharkey was named Principal of Salem Elementary School prior to the start of the 2018-2019 school year.  He is currently entering his 5th year as the Principal of Salem Elementary. 

Mr. Sharkey received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Bloomsburg University in 2005.  In 2016, he returned to Bloomsburg University to earn a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, obtained a Pennsylvania school counseling certificate and successfully completed Pennsylvania principal certification coursework at Bloomsburg University.  He has completed part of his doctoral coursework in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley University. 

Mr. Sharkey was born and raised in West Hazleton and is a graduate of Bishop Hafey High School.  He currently resides in Berwick.
