BERWICK STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT NATIONAL HISTORY DAY COMPETITION

National History Day

DALLAS – Berwick Area Middle School students Lexi Comuntzis, Owen Berlin, Jack Dacier, Megan Golomb, Tanner Allen, Taylor Woodeshick, Justin Walker, Olivia Gomez and Grace Ward displayed their historical research at the 2017 Region 2 National History Day competition held at Misericordia University on Saturday March 25th.

Students conducted and presented research on historical persons fitting the theme of the event “Taking a Stand,” and ranged from musician Louie Armstrong to aviator Amelia Earhardt to Oscar Schindler and Rylee Simpson with their exhibit on “Harry Truman and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”

Olivia Gomez Olivia Gomez took 1st place in Region 2 for her website documenting Mississippi Civil Rights Leader Medgar Evers and will present her research at the State History Day event in Carlisle in May.
