MONTANA TAKES THIRD IN STATE TRACK MEET

STATE COLLEGE – Berwick Paden Montana Area High School junior Payden Montana placed third in the shot put at the Pennsylvania State Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet here last weekend. The Lady Bulldog standout set a personal best with a throw of 44’3¾”. Ms. Montana trailed second place winner Jenise Lynch of St. John Neumann/Maria Goretti by just a quarter inch and champion Tori McKinley of Hickory by less than 3 inches.

Ms. Montana broke the school record in the shot put once again and continues to add to her impressive list of accomplishments. She placed second in the discus and third in the shot at states as a sophomore and began to break school records during her freshman season. Payden was also chosen to travel to Australia to compete in an international meet at the end of her sophomore season, and will enter her junior outdoor season as one of the top throwers in Pennsylvania in both the shot and discus.

Ms. Montana is expected to participate in the prestigious Penn Relays at Historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia this spring and is already considered one of the top Track and Field athletes in the history of Berwick Area High School.
