Mr. Richard Walton
Principal
Mr Walton graduated from Berwick Area Senior High School in 1969. He moved on to Bloomsburg University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1973. Upon graduation from college, his first teaching position was ninth grade English as a long-term substitute at Northwest Area High School.
In 1974, Mr Walton was hired to a permanent position with the Berwick Area School District as a fifth grade teacher at Salem Elementary School. He taught there for ten years until 1984 when he was named Assistant Principal at Berwick Area High School. After four years, Mr Walton assumed his present position and has handled the responsibilities of principal since that time.
Mr Walton earned his Masters Degree in School Administration from the University of Scranton in 1982. He currently holds a Masters + 36 credits as well as his Elementary/Secondary Principal's Certificate. He holds membership in the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary/Secondary School Principals (PAESSP). He has also successfully completed the Pennsylvania Education Policy Fellowship Program in 2005.
Mr. Jonathan Cleaver
Assistant Principal
Mr. Cleaver was born and raised in Berwick and graduated from Berwick High School in 1994. He attended Mansfield University and graduated in December of 1999 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. He recently graduated with his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certification from Wilkes University.
Mr. Cleaver was hired by the Berwick Area School District upon graduation from Mansfield. He worked as a special education teacher for several years at the Senior High School. He was appointed as the Dean of Students at Berwick High School in July of 2004. He was transferred to the Acting Assistant Principal's position at the Berwick Middle School in July of 2005. Currently, Mr. Cleaver holds the Assistant Principal position at Berwick High School. In addition to holding an administrative position, Mr. Cleaver coaches football.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2007-08 school year. It is a distinct honor that I am able to serve the Berwick Area School District as the Assistant Principal at the Berwick Area High School. Welcome to all of our incoming freshmen and new transfer students at Berwick Area High School. Good luck to our students and faculty in their pursuit of scholastic excellence. I am confident that we will have an outstanding school year together!
