ESL Information for Teachers
By law, modifications must be made to the regular curriculum for ESL students. See the PA Department of Education's BEC for the latest regulations. These students are intelligent; their weakness is the English language. Allow them time to understand the language before placing judgment on them. The ESL teacher will work closely with teachers to determine the best possible plan for each student, based upon his/her level of English proficiency. We discuss the student's language strengths and weaknesses to find ways to help the child reach his/her potential.
